Di balik insiden tersebut, Suharto menceritakan bahwa ini semua terjadi karena adanya
Kesalahan informasi.
Saat peristiwa berlangsung, dirinya memang tidak berada di rumah. Ia pergi memancing bersama dua rekannya, Pangat dan Edi ke Wadaslintang, di Kabupaten Wonosobo.
Ia pergi pada hari Selasa (1/5/2018) dan kembali Kamis (3/5/2018), saat peristiwa terjadi.
Saat perjalanan pulang ke rumah, tiba-tiba rekan Suharto, yakni Pangat ditelepon oleh anaknya bahwa Suharto meninggal akibat kecelakaan. Padahal, dirinya sendiri bersama Suharto saat itu.
“Saya memancing bersama rekan-rekan ke Wadaslintang, berangkat hari Selasa dan pulang hari Kamis. Saat di perjalanan pulang, pak Pangat yang jadi supir saat itu ditelepon anaknya, kalau saya meninggal karena kecelakaan. Pangat pun kaget, lebih-lebih saya. Lha wong saya masih hidup,” ujar Suharto.
Ternyata, yang menjadi korban dalam kecelakaan itu adalah sahabatnya sesama pensiunan BRI, Albertus Joko.
“Saya baca berita kok ada kecelakaan korban pakai kendaraan beat, dan namanya Suharto, alamatnya juga saya. Ternyata setelah saya lihat di video kecelakaan itu, ternyata pak Joko, teman saya sendiri. Saat itu saya sadar kalau itu salah informasi,” tuturnya.
Namun yang membuatnya heran, data dari kepolisian juga menerangkan bahwa jasad itu adalah milik Suharto, seperti fotokopi KTP yang ditemukan di tas jinjing korban.
Hingga akhirnya terungkap, saat itu pukul 19.00 WIB, Suharto pulang ke rumah.
